Survey The AACG is taking a poll of our members on a subject of importance to all of us. The un-availability of single crystals for research purposes has recently become an issue of national concern. This situation was reflected in an article in the August, 2007 issue of Physics Today entitled: “US condensed-matter community grapples with availability of crystalline samples.” In response to this problem, the US National Academies has recently begun a study entitled “Materials Synthesis and Crystal Growth (MSAC)”. A committee has been looking at reasons for lost competencies in the United States in critical areas of single crystal growth and materials synthesis. The MSAC Committee would like input from organizations that are active in the area of crystal growth. Please take a minute to complete this survey. The future prospects of the American Association for Crystal Growth may be affected by the outcome of this study. Please log in to your AACG account and complete the survey. |
