Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Conduct basic and applied research on single crystal growth, particularly of
semiconductors and related materials. Team with GE businesses to identify
technical challenges and specific growth opportunities. Develop research
objectives and action plans to address these opportunities. Lead all aspects
of research projects, including planning, scheduling, milestones, risk
assessment, costing, financial tracking, and preparation of proposals for
external funding agencies. Work independently and in multi-disciplinary
teams. Invent and patent when appropriate. Deliver effective presentations,
reports, and publications to CRD, GE businesses, government agencies,
professional societies, and peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications/Requirements:
PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a
related field. A strong background in bulk crystal growth, including
peer-reviewed publications, is required. Fluency in English and good oral
and written communication skills are essential.
Desired:
Experience with high pressure and/or hydrothermal techniques desirable but
not essential.
