A client of ours in San Diego is seeking a Crystallographer. They are revolutionizing the use of protein structure in the drug discovery process,
helping to create safer, more effective medicines. Using high-throughput structural biology, they are translating the wealth of genetic and genomic
information generated over recent years into structural templates for drug discovery, on an industrial scale.
Candidate will take a leadership role in determining structures of medically important proteins in addition to supervising and assisting in the
crystallization lab. The candidate should be able to contribute in a broad role that includes developing strategies for successful crystallization of
our targets and participating as a member of a structure-based drug design team.
Preferred qualifications: 5 - 10 years of experience with large pharmaceutical company and experience with structure based drug design.
Required qualifications: A successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral training in Structural Biology. Knowledge and experience in all
aspects of protein crystal structure determination, from protein expression to refinement, is required. Experience with co-crystallization of
protein/inhibitor complexes is highly desirable, as is experience in working with chemists to translate crystallographic results to the development of
potent, selective enzyme inhibitors. Excellent technical writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills are essential.
Additionally, the candidate must be a self-starter, and have the ability to design and carry out research projects independently.
