Seattle often fails to live up to its reputation as a rainy place. Mid-July to
mid-August is the driest time of year. Over the last six years, rain was
recorded an average of 8 days in the month of July and 8 days in August.
Each month also averaged 13 sunny days and 10 partly cloudy days. That's
partly sunny for you optimists, and you have to be an optimist to be a
crystal grower. So there's a high probability of fine weather. Average
temperatures for Seattle in July and August during the daytime are in
the mid-70s (F), overnight lows in the mid-50s. Also, summer days are
long. Sunset will be about 8:30 pm.
