The conference will be held at:

The WestCoast Grand Hotel
1415 Fifth Avenue
Seattle, Washington, 98101

WestCoast Grand Hotel is located in the heart of Seattle’s most vibrant downtown neighborhood offering exceptional service and cuisine with Northwest flair. Surrounded by 10 million square feet of upscale shopping, restaurants and business headquarters, the WestCoast Grand is “smack-dab-in-the-middle” of it all! Seattle’s most popular attractions including Pike Place Market, Monorail to the Seattle Center’s Space Needle and the new Experience Music Project, Benaroya Hall, Seattle Art Museum are all just steps away.

Guest rooms feature  views of Elliot Bay and the city skyline, king or queen bedding; coffee makers; fully stocked honor bars; hair dryers, plush terry bathrobes, irons and ironing boards, data port phones, in-room movies, oversized desks and Wireless High Speed Internet Access.

Rates: $162.00 single/double (tax currently 15.6%). For individuals wishing to extend their stay, these rates will be honored three days prior and three days after the official conference dates, subject to availability.

Reservations: Call (206) 971-8000; fax (206) 971-8100 and identify yourself as attending AACG. Cut-off date is July 19, 2002. Reservations must be guaranteed by one night’s room deposit made by check or credit card.

Cancellation Policy: Individuals must cancel 48 hours prior to 6:00 pm the day of arrival to avoid a charge equal to one night’s room and tax.

Seattle often fails to live up to its reputation as a rainy place. Mid-July to mid-August is the driest time of year. Over the last six years, rain was recorded an average of 8 days in the month of July and 8 days in August. Each month also averaged 13 sunny days and 10 partly cloudy days. That's partly sunny for you optimists, and you have to be an optimist to be a crystal grower. So there's a high probability of fine weather. Average temperatures for Seattle in July and August during the daytime are in the mid-70s (F), overnight lows in the mid-50s. Also, summer days are long. Sunset will be about 8:30 pm.
