The Ninth International Conference on Metal Organic Vapor Phase Epitaxy (ICMOVPE IX) will be held May 30 through June 4, 1998 at the Sheraton Torrey Pines Hotel, La Jolla, California. The event will be co-sponsored by The Minerals, Metals, & Materials Society and the American Association of Crystal Growth.
The objective of the conference is to bring together a wide spectrum of specialists from industry, commerce, academia and national laboratories to present their most recent progress in the fundamental and applied aspects of MOVPE technology. The program is designed to provide a wide range of opportunities for formal and informal discussions of and presentations on all topics of interest.
| Topics areas include: | Quantum wells, wires, and dots |
| Growth and doping mechanisms | Growth of device structures |
| Surface physics and chemistry during growth | Infrared materials and devices |
| In-situ probes, real time monitoring & process control | High power, high temperature semiconductor materials and devices |
| Highly mismatched systems | Blue LEDs and lasers |
| Selective area growth | Reactor design and modeling |
| Novel growth mechanisms and techniques | Production and safety issues |
| Nitrides: growth, defects, charicerization, and devices | Growth of thermoelectric and themophotovoltaic materials and devices. |
The deadline for submission of abstracts is January 15, 1998. Abstracts should be submitted via the TMS web site, Conference Management System for Symposium and Abstract Creation, at http://www.tms.org/CMS, or by contacting the program co-chair, R. Dupuis. A limited number of Late News Abstracts will be considered, deadline for submission is May 8, 1998.
Conference proceedings will be published in the Journal of Crystal Growth as a seperate volume of the Journal.
To complement the strong technical program, the ICMOVPE IX sponsors a tabletop exhibit of electronic materials technology and services. The specialized program of the ICMOVPE IX attracts the industry's most intersted and professional audience. Companies who are interested in participating should contact TMS at the address above. The deadline date to reserve space is March 1, 1998.
Along with the technical program and exhbition, special social functions are planned, including the welcoming reception at Torrey Pines, a special dinner at the Stephen Birch Aquarium-*Museum and the Symposium Banquet.
