successful research company devoted to the development of new sensor, detector,
and system technologies for commercial, medical and government use.
- Job Responsibilities
- The opening is for a broad based technical person with
training in chemistry who can support the Scientist who runs the department, in
growing crystals and in the operation of the laboratory. The person selected
will support organic synthesis, crystal growth, design and take responsibility
for the construction of equipment and maintenance of research facilities.
Job duties will encompass:
- Chemical synthesis of organic compounds
- Crystal growth of organic/inorganic compounds
- Design and construction of equipment
- Routine handling of air-sensitive and/or hazardous materials
- Sawing, polishing, and packaging of crystals
- Maintenance of inventory chemicals and general laboratory
supplies
- Keeping accurate records of data
- Our Requirements
- You must be detailed oriented and used to work on multiple
projects simultaneously. In addition, you should have the following background and
experiences:
- Chem. Eng./Chemistry, BS or MS, and 4+ years experience in
Chemistry or Materials Science
- Experience in organic synthesis
- Experience in a crystal growth
- Experience with design and construction of equipment (i.e.
SolidWorks)
- Assembly, maintenance and operation of custom and vacuum
systems
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills
- Access to a vehicle for pickup and delivery of research
supplies from local vendors
