Process Engineer,
Applied Materials

At Applied Materials, we are constantly investigating and evaluating new technologies or opportunities for business growth. The company is focused on finding energy and environmentally-friendly opportunities that can help improve the way people live.

Lighting remains one of the least efficient forms of electricity used in the world today. As much as 20% of the world’s total electricity is used just to create light, yet most light bulbs are still highly inefficient. A typical incandescent lamp uses less that 10% of the energy it consumes to produce light. Compact fluorescent lamps perform better, but still waste 75% of the energy consumed.

Silicon-based solid state lighting, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) is being developed by Applied. We are hiring industry-proven Process Engineers to support and grow this business.

This position is within our Alternative Energy Products Group.

Responsibilities:
Within safety guidelines develop, plan, and execute process engineering projects for a range of products. Within safety guidelines guide less experienced engineers in utilizing techniques to characterize hardware, define methods and new technologies and apply them to characterize hardware, and/or perform hardware characterization on unusually complex systems for a range of products. Within safety guidelines design, perform, collect data, analyze and compile reports on unusually complex process engineering experiments for a range of products. Interact with key customers to resolve process engineering issues for a range of products. Conceive and implement new technology, products, and analytical instrumentation. Train less experienced engineers, define and implement new methodologies, define and apply new technologies, and/or troubleshoot, perform Root Cause Analysis, and resolve unusually complex process engineering issues for a range of products. Generate internal and external documentation for products, presentations, and technical reports for integrated products, and generate process engineering specifications for integrated products. Define and validate film measurement techniques, and train less experienced engineers in measurement techniques of film properties and guide them in the interpretation of the data. Audit vendor selection and suppliers.
