GaN Crystal Growth Engineer, Kyma Technologies

Summary
The GaN crystal growth engineer will work as part of a technical team focusing on growth of GaN bulk materials for substrate applications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Focus on growth of GaN crystals to fabricate substrates for optoelectronic and microelectronic device applications.
  • Work with the engineering team to use statistical design of experiments methods for implementing procedures to improve the crystal growth process for production of GaN substrates.
  • Utilize flow modeling and reactor simulation to improve reactor performance and operation.
  • Work with process technicians on operation of process tools and scheduling of growth runs.
  • Analysis of crystals using various materials characterization techniques: XRD, SEM, TEM, AFM, C-V, PL, etc.
  • Interaction with customers and development partners in optoelectronic and microelectronic markets to evaluate product requirements and performance in prototype sampling.

Qualifications
  • MS or Ph.D. in materials science and engineering or related field.
  • Experience with crystal growth techniques: GaN or SiC bulk growth experience preferred, GaN epitaxial growth experience considered.
  • Knowledge and experience with reactor flow simulation using computational flow dynamics (CFD) models is a plus.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques for crystal characterization.
  • Familiarity with GaN-based device applications: LEDs, LDs, FETs
  • Computer experience: CAD, databases, Microsoft Office.
