Market. II-VI is a world leader in the growth,
manufacture and supply of a wide range of crystals
and optical components used in laser and telecommunication
systems. We are currently looking to fill the position of
UV Filter - Cristal Growth Process Engineer, at our New
Port Richey, Florica location.
- Function
- Provides the UV filter production department process engineering
support. The process engineer will be utilized in all existing
processes including Potassium Nickel Sulfate (solution growth)
and Calcium Fluoride growth (including Cz and Zone Melt). This
position will oversee the process controls including use of
Eurotherms, Thermocouples/RTD, optical fibers/pyrometers and
electrical circuits.
Charged with resolving crystal growth process problems that
arise as the as the UV Filter materials are produced, the candidate
needs to be able to use a methodical well-documented approach. By
effectively utilizing proven experimentation and statistical
techniques this position helps technicians define problems and
opportunities in quantitative terms. After defining the problem
the process engineer is responsible for gathering and analyzing
the data and presenting the data back to the team. The team will
then recommend and justify process improvement solutions to
management. The process engineer will then update the documentation
to reflect the improvements made.
This process engineer is also responsible for process automation,
wiring and configuring of stations, Labview based programming,
database management (File Maker Pro) and LAN network maintenance.
The process engineer works closely with the advanced material
development center at IIVI to create and transfer process platforms
and process automation as well as troubleshoot and tune existing
process.
In addition this position will also be exposed to crystal growth
practices and will need to learn how to integrate the process
automation with solid crystal growth practices. The engineer is
expected to build and maintain current furnace designs.
- Education
- BS degree in engineering or sciences is mandatory.
- Experience
- 0-3 years as a manufacturing, process, or methods engineer;
working in an optical fabrication environment or a highly
technical, quality oriented high mix light-manufacturing
environment.
- Special Abilities
- This position requires good verbal and written communication
skills. In addition the individual must possess a strong
technical in LabView programming and electrical circuitry.
Candidate must be very organized, hands-on, and results-oriented.
Good facilitation skills, problem-solving abilities, ability to
work in a team environment and multitasking are essential.
