Crystal Growth Engineer,
Rubicon Technology

Job Description
This function is primarily focused on growth of sapphire and other compound single crystals. Rubicon uses a modified form of Kyropolous technique for manufacturing our superior sapphire single crystals. Relevant experience in bulk crystal growth techniques is therefore required.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Design, maintain, and operate crystal growth equipment.
  2. Optimize crystal growth process.
  3. Stay current with industry trends and information gathering.
  4. Research collaboration with educational and government institutions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  1. Graduate degree in materials science, chemistry, or physics. Ph.D. a strong plus.
  2. Hands on experience in bulk crystal growth techniques.
  3. Hands on experience in growth apparatus design and construction.
  4. Understanding of chemical, mechanical, and crystallographic nature of materials.
  5. Familiar with metrology tools – XRD, optical interferometry, AFM, SIMS
  6. Knowledge of statistical methods for process characterization.

Reports to: Sunil B. Phatak, Ph.D.

Key Working Relationships (Internal/External):
Provide consultation to other departments and customers, as needed.
